What’s in a Name? From unfortunate to inspiring…
Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano, Ruth O’Shea – violin, and Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at the Civic Centre on the first Friday of each month.
The pop-up café opens from 2.30pm where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes.
The 45-minute concert starts at 3pm; the concerts are mostly classical music, introduced by the performers.
November’s ‘What’s in a Name?’ explores the theme of names from two angles: individuals who have inspired particular pieces of music, with musical portraits of Sylvia, Margaret, Susan, Jennifer, and Mr Belloc; and composers with amusing or unfortunate names – works by Gelinek, Schytte, and others…
