Palaeontologist Professor Mike Benton will present two exciting dinosaur lectures from Warminster Civic Centre this July.
His appearance will feature as town is transformed from Warminster to Roarminster with the installation of five dinosaur models at various locations, from Saturday 11th July to Saturday 5th September.
The Professor of Vertebrate Palaeontology at the University of Bristol will deliver two lectures at the Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB) on Saturday 25th July, titled ‘Dinosaurs: New Visions of a Lost World’ with visitors invited to learn how science and art reconstruct how dinosaurs truly looked in life.

The 2pm lecture will be family-friendly for young enthusiasts, aimed at ages 7 plus. The 4pm lecture will explore how scientific evidence shapes our understanding of the prehistoric world, and how those discoveries are brought to life through art.
Professor Benton has written some 400 scientific papers and more than 50 books on a broad range of palaeontological topics – and will be selling his latest books after the lecture.
A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “It’s amazing to welcome Palaeontologist, Professor Mike Benton to Warminster for this exciting event suitable for all.
“Roarminster has a host of activities planned and we’re so excited to have such an incredible range of activities hosted throughout the dinosaur trail.
“The 4pm lecture has been designed for aged 16+, however if there is a particularly passionate dinosaur enthusiasts, younger than 16, who can manage a lecture style environment, feel free to come along with a parent or guardian.”
