Warminster Town Council has awarded £30,000 to 17 local groups with Cllr Mark Carter describing the process an “absolute privilege”.
Each year the town council allocates funding to projects which, in the council’s opinion, are in the interest of its area or part of its area, or in the interest of all or some of the inhabitants of that area.
Councillors gave full consideration to the grant applications received as they aimed to “assist as many causes as possible.” Only one grant per organisation may be given in any council year, which is limited to £2,500 per application.

‘Immensely proud’
Cllr Mark Carter, Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, said: “Overseeing a grant budget of £30,000 was an absolute privilege and I am immensely proud that the town council can continue to support local Warminster groups, charities and events with a wide range of causes, from sports clubs to cancer support groups, D&D events to horse riding for disabled children and everything in-between!
“It was a long discussion with lots of tough choices having to be made, but we tried our absolute best to assist as many causes as possible. Thank you to all applicants and I am excited to hear how the grant funding helps!”
Messages of thanks have already been received, including from Open Door Warminster, which thanked the town council for helping make a difference. Grant recipients will attend the Annual Town Meeting in 2027 to explain how the funding has been used.
