A new opportunity to remember loved ones in the Lake Pleasure Grounds is now available.
Memorial plaques can now be purchased and installed on the Boat House in the Lake Pleasure Grounds (Weymouth Street, Warminster, BA12 9NP) via the town council.
The plaques are made of durable, weather-resistant aluminium measuring 9inch by 3inch each, with text of up to 100 characters, sourced locally from Warminster Engravers.

Once text is approved, they will be securely mounted by Warminster Town Council on the side of the Boat House where the metal steps are located.
The plaques cost £350, which covers installation, cleaning, inspections, and minor repairs for a 10-year period.
Kevin Whitehorn, Estates Manager, explained: “We know how important the Lake Pleasure Grounds is to the residents and visitors to Warminster.
“It is a well-used community space, valued for recreation, wildlife, and reflection. Increasingly, there is interest from residents in having a dedicated place to remember individuals who have had connections to the area.”
At the end of the 10 years, the family or sponsor would have the option to renew the plaque for a further term or have it respectfully removed.
This approach maintains the area’s safety, attractiveness, and accessibility ensuring the Lake Pleasure Ground remains well-maintained for all visitors.
If a plaque becomes significantly damaged, the cost of its replacement will be borne by Warminster Town Council.
The decision to approve memorial plaques on the side of the boathouse was made at the Parks and Estate Committee meeting on Monday 30th March 2026.
