Warminster Christmas Market and Lights a great success

The day of activity culminating in the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Warminster was a great success.

The day started in with the Santa Fun run in the Lake Pleasure Grounds and the Christmas Market at Warminster Civic Centre.

Stall holders reported that the Christmas Market was busier than ever, with a stream of people continuing through the day right up till closing time at 4pm.

Assistant Town Clerk, Tom Dommett said:

“The Christmas Market was absolutely brilliant, thank you to all the stall holders who provided a wonderful shopping experience and thanks to the public for turning up in such numbers. The Civic Centre was buzzing.”

“This year, there was a great atmosphere. Jamma de Samba, got everybody dancing,
the Stilt Walkers were a big hit, everyone really loved them, they were tireless in posing for photos with the crowds.  Charlie the donkey won everybody's heart and the lantern parade showed what marvellously creative children we have in Warminster.”

“I am glad to report that the food vendors in the Market Place were a great success and the Fun Bus and swing chairs were as popular as ever.  Many of the shops stayed open and even more supported the event by signing up to having lights and a Christmas tree.”

“Warminster Community Radio did a splendid job with their PA system and our thanks go to Warminster Brass Band and the Carol Singers who made it a real sing-along event. So many other people contributed to the success of the event, from the people who put up the lights to those who took care of the road closures to Town Councillors acting as stewards, I won’t name them all but I would like to thank them all.”
