Half pipe in Skatepark removed

Work has commenced work on the removal of the half pipe in the skatepark. It will take up to two weeks to dismantle and itís currently surrounded by Herris fencing as a safety measure. The Town Council realises that itís disappointing for users to no longer have use of the pipe and had tried to preserve it for as long as possible, but following annual inspections it was clear that it had come to the end of its life.
The Skatepark Group, along with Friends of Warminster Park and local youth workers, have spent some time considering designs for a new skatepark and have made a start on fundraising for the £200,000 project. The plans are to install a concrete state-of-the-art wheeled sports park which will serve the local communityís needs but also attract users from further afield. Councillor Ridout, Chair of the Skatepark Groupís committee and a member of Friends of Warminster Park said: ďThe challenge has now started to raise the funds for this facility which is desperately needed for our young people.Ē
