Warminster Town Council Precept

Warminster Town Council Precept 2019-2020
One of the Agenda items discussed and voted on at the recent meeting of Warminster Town Council Jan 21st 2019, was the Precept needed to fund the Town’s budget for 2019-20.
It was agreed to increase the Precept by £37471(an increase of 5% on the previous year). Fortunately, because there are more houses in Warminster, the Tax base has increased (by 1.87%) which means the actual overall figure calculates to £3.09%.
In cash terms, for a band D property, this represents an increase in Council Tax of £3.83 per annum, pushing the total payable to £127.96. This equates to 7p per week and percentage wise is only marginally above the rate of inflation (as measured by the CPI)
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Chris Robbins, Chair of Finance and Assets, commented.
Last years’ Budget 2018/9 has held up very well and we are confident going forward with this years’ budget with a small but needed increase. The Finance and Assets Committee have worked extremely hard and I thank them for their input.
We have built in several contingencies, taking into consideration lessons learnt from previous years. All members were happy with the outcome, voting unanimously in favour.
