Warminster Town Council Service Devolution
Warminster Town Council are currently in discussion with Wiltshire Council on the next stage of service devolution. Many Councils are taking on the provision services currently run by Wiltshire Council.
In Warminster, managing The Lake Please Grounds was the first stage of the process. The park has benefited from additional investment and local control. It is once again a source of great pride to residents.
The second stage are the 8 play areas within the town. The new leases have been agreed, the town council will manage them from early 2020.
The final stage of the process is for Warminster Town Council to take on the local management of grounds and cleansing throughout the town.
This will involve the council in cutting many grassed areas, management of some hedges/shrubs/shelter belts and trees. It will also involve maintenance of some footpaths, leaf clearance, balancing ponds and litter bin emptying. Also included with be the management of Pine Lawns cemetery and the weekly market.
This final stage will be the costliest and will impact on the Town Council budget for 2020.
The council is seeking views from residents before councillors make a final decision on budget proposals at the Full Council meeting on Monday 20 January 2020.
Councillors will have an information stall and be available to chat to the public about the changes at the Civic Centre on Saturday 30th November from 10am -12 noon.
