Warminster Cricket Club has been awarded £6,000 by Warminster Town Council from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Fund to support its refurbishment project for the Club’s toilets.

The total cost of the project is approximately £11,000. The club have received £5,000 from the England and Wales Cricket Board and were seeking match funding for the balance.

John Powell, Chair of Warminster Cricket Club, attended the meeting of Full Council. He explained that the Club has over 200 junior members and is working to attract women and girl members. It is also used by other organisations including the table tennis club and fitness studio and for social events.

CIL is a planning charge payable by developers on any new development. The Warminster Town Council policy is that its share of the CIL should be spent on investment in the public realm and public facilities that support the community.

Warminster councillors voted unanimously to award the full amount requested by the cricket club commenting on the diverse opportunities offered by the club, asking them to report back to the Annual Meeting of the council next April about the completion of the refurbishment project.
