Cllr Cooper believes local politics should focus on serving the community and always being accountable. He has a particular interest in traffic, safety and financial matters.
He has chaired the Town Council’s Finance and Audit Committee for three years, where he has contributed to delivering fair and effective budgets for residents.
The newly elected Mayor, Cllr Cooper said: “I thank my fellow councillors for their nomination and support. I wish to thank the former Mayor, Cllr Stacie Allensby, for her support and guidance whilst I was Deputy Town Mayor.
“I will do my best for and by the people of Warminster. I want to put even more back into the fantastic Warminster community. I’m very happy to continue to contribute to all the good Warminster Town Council is doing.”
The Mayor’s charities for 2025 – 2026 will be Mind and Open Door Warminster; two charities that Cllr Cooper currently works closely with.
Cllr Cooper added: “There’s so much stigma about mental health, it’s an injury like any other kind of injury, and we should be more mindful of that. Locally, Open Door Warminster has a fantastic outreach in the community, supporting so many different groups.”
Cllr Jack Jones was nominated as Vice Chairman of the Council, and Deputy Town Mayor for the municipal year 2025-26.
Jack is hugely passionate about anything sport, environmental, or youth related. He is an active volunteer for many local community groups including the Warminster Action Group and The Athenaeum. Jack believes in a community-first approach and the importance of continuing to improve Warminster for its residents.
Cllr Jones added: “It’s an honour to step into the role of Deputy Mayor and to be able to continue to serve the people of Warminster. I’m committed to supporting our community, championing local voices, and working together to create a town that is inclusive, vibrant, and forward-thinking.”
The retiring Mayor, Cllr Allensby, passed on thanks for the privilege of her year in office.
Cllr Allensby said: “My main goal as Mayor was to make people realise councillors are people, regular normal people who can be approached. We all want the same thing as councillors. We want what is best for Warminster. I would like to thank the people of Warminster for their support through this year.”
