Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Local schoolchildren plant flowers to brighten up Lake Pleasure Grounds

6 June 2025

Local schoolchildren have started planting flowers in the Lake Pleasure Grounds this week, filling up the beds around the park.

Warminster Town Council has invited local schoolchildren to plant in the park since the popular initiative was introduced in 2016.

The town council pays for the plants, with the aim to get local children involved in shaping the Lake Pleasure Grounds and taking pride in the community asset. Local schoolchildren will finish planting around the park next week.

Adrian Rogers, Parks and Open Spaces Manager, said: “We are delighted to continue this wonderful initiative working with local schools. We take great pride in the Lake Pleasure Grounds, and it is great to see the next generation working with us to maintain our much-loved community asset.”

Local school involved in the initiative include Minster C Of E Primary School, Princecroft Primary School, Warminster School, New Close Primary School, Sambourne C Of E Primary School, St. George’s Catholic Primary School and Barney Lodge Nursery.

Furthermore, a group of Kingdown School students are currently working with members of the Warminster Town Council Grounds Team as part of a new initiative.

The Warminster-based students are working with the team weekly, learning new skills as well as giving back to the local community. The partnership is set to run all year round with students working on various projects within the Lake Pleasure Grounds, Grovelands, The Warminster Community Orchard and other public spaces in the town.
