The Lake Pleasure Grounds in Warminster remains one of the country’s best parks after retaining its Green Flag Award for 2025.
The popular public space centre was described as “a lovely town park” and received praise from judges across all criteria as well as commendation for the Warminster Town Council grounds team.
Green Flags celebrate parks that are well-maintained for users and nature. The Green Flag Award scheme was launched in 1997 and is managed by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The judges said strengths of the park included having a well laid out management plan, CCTV, PCSO patrols, clean and open toilets, signage around the park, grass neatly cut, tree trails, and dogs under control. Initiatives including free tennis and canoeing sessions as well as local primary school children planting in the park were also praised.
Improvements at the park were highlighted including sleeper beds at the entrance to the Elizabeth Collyns Garden. Accessibility once within the park was commended including the accessible picnic bench available next to the café, and items of play equipment suitable for those with disabilities.
The variety of active opportunities available aimed at toddlers to junior was also mentioned, as well as comments on the well-used skate park, tennis courts, MUGA and boating on the lake.
Adrian Rogers, Parks and Open Spaces Manager, said:
Warminster is immensely proud of the Lake Pleasure Grounds and maintaining the area is a real team effort.
The Lake Pleasure Grounds host more events than ever before as we continue to protect and improve this amazing community space.
We are delighted that the Lake Pleasure Grounds has once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award status. We think it is one of the best parks in Wiltshire and really do believe it offers something for everyone – there is no other park quite like it.”
Warminster Town Council has invested in all aspects of the Lake Pleasure Grounds and remains committed to ongoing investment.
The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said:
The Lake Pleasure Grounds is a vital green space for communities in Warminster to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise.
It also provides important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green space.”
