Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Huge climbing wall, axe throwing and archery enjoyed after Town Council funding

4 June 2025

Young people in Warminster tackled an 8m climbing wall, archery and axe throwing as Warminster Town Council continues to invest in youth provision.

The sessions were funded by the town council as part of a multi-agency approach to offer free and accessible activities that engage the younger population in the town.

Qualified instructors from Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT) ran the 1 ½ hour sessions throughout the day as local young people, aged 6 to 17, took part in each activity on Thursday 29th May.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “The Lake Pleasure Grounds was full of activity with young people enjoying the well-run free activities as well as other facilities in the park including the splash pad, tennis courts, skatepark and boats on the lake.

“This is the first of many free activities set to be offered this year as the town council remains committed to investing in multiple activities for a range of ages in Warminster.

“We look forward to working with WOLT in the future as we continue to work with local outside organisations to benefit our residents.”

Warminster Town Council has an ongoing agreement with Westbury and Warminster Youth Club to provide outreach workers and continues to work with Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police and others to find ways to support the youth of Warminster.

Furthermore, the town council has additional free events that appeal to the local younger population in 2025 including free skatepark events, Ice Cream & Bubbles Festival and Pumpkins in the Park.

Further free activities run by WOLT will be available to book for free shortly via the Warminster Town Council website and social media pages as well as details on the previously cancelled canoeing session.
