13 March 2025

Warminster Town Council will be supporting a series of exciting events across Warminster as part of StarFest, encouraging visitors to the town and residents to look to the sky this March.

Cranborne Chase National Landscape’s annual StarFest event is being held at Warminster Civic Centre, from Wednesday 19th March to Thursday 20th March, with free afterschool activities including afterschool drop-in creative activities and a Dark Sky Rangers Workshop.

Warminster Town Council has organised additional events to complement this exciting event including award-winning astrophotographer Josh Dury hosting a photography exhibition at the Warminster Athenaeum (18 to 20 High Street, Warminster, BA12 9AE) open daily from Wednesday 19th March until Sunday 23rd March.

The exhibition is free to enter and will feature 20 photos on display featuring images endorsed by NASA, ESA, Apollo 11 Astronaut, Buzz Aldrin and ESA British Astronaut, Tim Peake. The event will conclude on the day of the Warminster Independent Spring Market, which is expected to be a huge day for Warminster.

Other exciting events include Starfest: The Moon at the Minister, which will feature an impressive 3D 4.5m moon installation inside Minster Church of St Denys (Church Street, Warminster BA12 8PQ). A full programme of events will include, music performances, bellringing, story time for children and a film night. The church will be open daily from Thursday 20th March to Thursday 3rd April. Due to limited carparking and for a better experience people will be encouraged to walk to the Minster.

Furthermore, Warminster Town Council will launch a free StarQuest town trail from Wednesday 19th March to Wednesday 2nd April. Residents can pick up a trail from the Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB) or print it off at home from the Warminster Town Council website.

Participants will be tasked with walking around Warminster town centre, spotting 10 constellations and writing down which shops they were spotted in. Once all of them have been found, come to the Civic Centre to pick up a participation prize as well as being entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a telescope.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said:
