Warminster Town Football Club (WTFC) now has a brand-new UPVC pitch-side barrier after money was allocated from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
Warminster Town Council (WTC) previously awarded £15,000 to WTFC to replace the deteriorating pitch-side barrier at the club’s Weymouth Street ground with the grant completing the matched funding required for the club to unlock up to £35,000 in Premier League Stadium Fund.
The WTC policy is that its share of the CIL should be spent on investment in the public realm and public facilities that support the community.

‘Vital role in our community’
Councillor Jack Jones said: “This project is a great example of what can be achieved when a club, volunteers, funders and the town council work together.
“Warminster Town FC plays a vital role in our community, and it’s fantastic to see investment that improves safety, strengthens the matchday experience and supports the club’s long-term future. The completion of the new pitch barrier is something the whole town can be proud of.”
Warminster Town Football Club Chairman, James Stone added: “This has been a major project for the club; one carried out through the winter months in difficult conditions – and it stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together behind its football club.
“The new barrier is far more than a cosmetic improvement. It enhances safety, presentation, and the overall matchday environment for players, supporters, and visitors to Weymouth Street.
“It is a visible statement of progress and ambition for Warminster Town Football Club and a lasting reflection of what can be achieved through community spirit and collective effort. On behalf of the club, thank you Warminster Town Council and everyone who played a part in making this happen.”
The new barriers were in use for the first time for Warminster Town FC vs Radstock Town in the Jewson Western League on Saturday 14th February.
