A fantastic array of stalls, award-winning live entertainment, tasty food and drink and a new-look switch-on will greet thousands of visitors at the Warminster Independent Christmas Market and Lights Switch-on event on Saturday 29th November.

The free to attend event starts at 10am with the Warminster community, traders and local businesses set to come together to celebrate the start of the festive period with a record number of stalls to explore, a performance by UK’s Number One Michael Bublé Tribute – Josh Hindle and an electronic countdown to the lights switch-on throughout the day.

Warminster Town Council with the Warminster Business Network (WBN) has created another day for the community with roads closed in the town centre and stalls across the High Street, Market Place, Weymouth Street and in the Civic Centre.

There will be a real mix of the best makers, food producers, gift stalls and old favourites with the outside independent market open until 6pm, encouraging a full day of shopping and trading across the town.

The joined-up event will also include more exciting creative, art, and jewellery stalls inside the Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB) open from 10am to 4.30pm as well as further festive food and drink outside the venue.

Shops across the town including in East Street, Chinns Court, George Street, Silver Street, The Cornmarket and in the Three Horseshoes Walk will also be open, giving visitors the opportunity to support our wonderful local businesses and purchase a variety of gifts for all, ahead of Christmas.

Live music begins at 11am with market updates and a mix of exciting local music talent including solo artists, local bands as well as a performance from award-winning vocalist and Michael Bublé Tribute – Josh Hindle – with the Christmas lights being switched-on at 5.30pm.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “We can’t wait to once again to welcome thousands of people to Warminster with a special Christmas event for the whole town. It is so exciting to have a record number of stalls attending as well as another exciting live entertainment schedule headlined by the UK’s Number One Michael Bublé Tribute – Josh Hindle.”

“Exciting changes have been made – the countdown to the lights switch-on will be displayed electronically throughout the day as we look to put on another super spectacular day and show what an exceptional town Warminster is.

“There will be so much to see and do including the launch of the Warminster Town Council Christmas Window Competition. We encourage visitors to arrive early, enjoy our town, the brilliant mix of stalls, food, drink and entertainment ahead of the lights being switched on at 5.30pm.”

The High Street and Market Place will be closed from 7am until 8pm, with road closures in place and no access for vehicles; buses will be using temporary bus stops. Residents are encouraged to walk or use public transport to attend the event if possible.

Public toilets will be available at the Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB until 4.30pm as well as in Central Car Park. Parking will be available at Wiltshire Council car parks around Warminster.
