The Warminster and Westbury CCTV partnership has sent a warning to criminals after quick action led to three arrests for shoplifting.
The CCTV partnership recently worked with Wiltshire Police and local retailers via Shopwatch radio on three incidents as they continue to work together to help protect the area.
On Saturday 3rd January, Waitrose called Shopwatch radio after trying to stop a man from shoplifting. He made off from the supermarket and went towards the train station. CCTV contacted Wiltshire Police and the man was arrested in procession of stolen goods.

On the Tuesday 6th January, B&M called after another man attempted to leave with stolen goods and was tracked to a vehicle. Wiltshire Police were contacted and after a short foot chase the man was arrested.
On the Wednesday 14th January, Boots called Shopwatch radio after a man left the store with over £300 worth of perfume.
The man was tracked to a vehicle in Three Horseshoes Walk car park. CCTV operators tracked the vehicle and contacted Wiltshire Police who intercepted the vehicle in Westbury.
The vehicle was stopped and the man arrested. There was over £1000 worth of goods in the vehicle from Boots, Iceland, Lidl, B&M, Waitrose, and Morrisons.
A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “The Warminster and Westbury CCTV partnership provides comprehensive coverage thanks to investment in an advanced digital system and the commitment of our dedicated CCTV team.
“It’s another great result to stop three shoplifters and help protect local retailers. We remain committed and dedicated to supporting our brilliant businesses and this quick action sends a message that we remain focused on reducing crime in Warminster.”
Cllr Andrew Davis, chairman of Warminster Town Council’s CCTV sub-committee added: “The cost of shoplifting falls on other customers who pay higher prices. Persistent theft can cause businesses to close. I’m glad these people were caught and the good recovered.”
Warminster and Westbury CCTV partnership is managed by Warminster Town Council.
