Warminster Town Council has welcomed an update from Boots on measures to improve waiting times at the town’s pharmacy.
Representatives from the town council and Warminster Health and Wellbeing board met with Boots representatives on Wednesday, 16th October as the town council continues to seek improvements for residents picking up their prescriptions.
The Director of Stores for the South acknowledged that there had been issues with queues but confirmed that steps had been put in place to improve the situation.
These measures include the Market Place store having an additional pharmacist and opening the store at lunchtimes for an additional hour as of Monday, 7th October. The store is fully resourced in terms of pharmacists and other staff.
Furthermore, Boots has plans to improve the in-store environment for customers, making it more convenient for people waiting for prescriptions or to see the pharmacist.
The meeting was set up after Warminster Town Mayor, Cllr Stacie Allensby wrote to the Area Manager for Boots following discussions at a Full Council meeting on Monday, 30th September – in her letter she said that long queues were not only unfair on the people of Warminster, but also unfair on the staff who are working there.

Warminster Town Council welcomes the update from Boots and the new measures in place, which are a definite improvement. This is a positive step. We will continue to monitor the situation as well as staying in regular contact with Boots as we continue to work with them to improve the pharmacy situation in Warminster.”
Boots also suggested Warminster customers may wish to sign up for the NHS App and the Boots App, which can aid customers by tracking prescription progress as well as texting or emailing customers when a prescription is ready for collection.
The App also allows family members and loved ones to pick up prescriptions on behalf of customers. Boots also wished to remind people that vulnerable patients can have prescriptions delivered free of charge or customers can pay to have their prescriptions delivered, if they wish.
Warminster currently has two pharmacies, Boots Pharmacy in the Market Place and the Bestway Group’s Well Pharmacy in the Cornmarket.
