Warminster Town Council offer free water butt to residents

Warminster Town Council has teamed up with Wessex Water to offer a free water butt to help residents save water.

A free water butt will be available for collection from the Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB) on Monday 15th December, 3.30pm to 4.30pm or on Wednesday 17th December, 3.30pm to 4.30pm or by arrangement with the town council. Residents will need to provide a name and post code on collection.

The town council has a limited number of water butts available. A water butt will be allocated on a limited basis, one per household.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said:

As part of Warminster Town Council’s commitment to help manage surface water and reduce the risk of localised flooding, residents are being offered a free water butt.”

This initiative is part of the Watermark Town Awards scheme and aims to help reduce surface water flooding and promote sustainable water use in the community.”

Residents will need to install and transport the water butt. The water butts are for domestic use only and cannot be resold.

The water butt is top width: 68cm, bottom width: 48cm, height alone: 90cm, height with stand: 122cm.

It will need to be installed on a firm slab/concrete base and must be positioned close to a drain pipe. The water butt will come with an simple to install diverter kit fitting standard 66mm round or 65mm square plastic down pipe.
