Warminster Town Council wants an urgent review to reinstate a local mobile breast screening service in the town. The Warminster Health and Wellbeing Forum is launching an appeal and the town council is offering them its full support.
Councillors previously raised concerned by the decision to close the mobile breast screening service in Warminster, which means residents now have to travel to Westbury or further afield.
According to the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service the decision to withdraw from Warminster was made for a number of reasons, including concerns about anti-social behaviour such as people banging on the side of the van during treatment sessions.

Councillor Elizabeth Lee said: “I am encouraged that council members unanimously agreed a motion in support of the Warminster Health and Wellbeing Forum’s efforts to see the local mobile screening unit reinstated in the town.
“All councillors expressed deep concern about the impact this decision has on accessibility for local residents and the potential consequences for early detection and treatment.
“In line with the motion, the Town Clerk has been requested to write formally to the NHS Trust and the ICB to communicate the council’s position, asking them to urgently review their decision and to offer support in finding a resolution that restores accessible breast screening provision for the people of Warminster.
“Warminster Town Council also reaffirms its support for the ongoing work of the Health and Wellbeing Forum, which continues to pursue this matter on behalf of the community.”
Warminster Town Council wants to protect the health and wellbeing of residents by ensuring equitable access to breast screening services within the town and will call on the relevant NHS Trust and Integrated Care Board (ICB) to urgently review the decision as it aims to reinstate a mobile breast screening service in Warminster.
