Warminster Town Council is reminding motorists to use alternative routes due to a road closure on Smallbrook Road, from Sunday 1st February, 5pm to 5am.
The road closure is enforced annually from 1st February to 30th April from Gypsy Lane to Upper Marsh Road (except for access to off-street premises) to help protect migrating toads during to breeding season.
Warminster Town Councillors previously supported the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), which according to Warminster Toad Patrol made a significant difference to the survival rates of the various amphibians last year.

Motorists are reminded to respect the closure to help protect the toad patrollers and help the migrating toads thrive.
A Warminster Toad Patrol spokesperson said: “We are lucky enough in Warminster to have some amazing ancestral breeding ponds, but to get to those ponds the toads must navigate across roads, with one of the places they cross being Smallbrook Road going through the nature reserve.
“There is a Traffic Regulation Order in place from the start of February to the end of April for access only 5pm to 5am. Access to premises located within the restricted area is maintained but no through traffic is permitted.
“With your help simply taking a different route, you will help us to protect these amazing creatures and give them a chance to not only survive but thrive.”
The TRO is supported by local police and Community Speed Watch, with potential fines for drivers breaching the closure.
