Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Cranborne Chase StarFest comes to Warminster

2 October 2024

Warminster Town Council has been asked to host the Cranborne Chase StarFest on 19th-20th March 2025 at Warminster Civic Centre.

The highlight of the event will be the ‘pop-up’ planetarium which measures 8m x 8m, with a height of over 3 metres.

Cranborne Chase National Landscape hold an annual StarFest; last year it took place in Dorset with a range of sessions for everyone to enjoy.

The 2025 event will be similar and is likely to include:

Drop-in arts and craft activities

Drop-in dark sky advice sessions

Bookable family-friendly sessions in the Pop-Up Planetarium

Family-friendly storytelling

Art Workshops

Stargazing evening

Councillors were delighted to agree to host the event, pointing out that this would be a prestigious event for the Town Council and Warminster to host and build on the council’s existing support for Darks Skies and Cranborne Chase National Landscape.

Dark skies are an increasing source of tourism income and have both environmental and climate change benefits.

The organisers of the StarFest will engage with local schools and community organisations to make the event as successful as possible.
