Warminster Town Council will give £3,770 to the Chapel of St Lawrence to preserve and improve the visual appearance of the historic building and community space in the centre of the town.
The money will come from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds paid by developers to maintain and improve facilities in the town.
The decision was unanimously made by councillors at a Full Council meeting on Monday 23rd June after Ian Frostick, Chair of the Feoffees and Trustees of St Lawrence Chapel, spoke regarding the Chapel’s application for CIL providing an update on maintenance work carried out to date.

Future plans include clearing the exterior moss/lichen, cleaning the stonework and repainting the downpipes. This will reduce the risk of water damage and significantly improve the overall visual appearance.
The total cost of the proposed work is £7,540 with the Chapel of St Lawrence applying for a 50% CIL grant of £3,770 to help support this essential maintenance, subject to the Feoffees/Trustees raising the balance.
