Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds serves up tennis fun for Sambourne School pupils

4 July 2025

With Wimbledon in full swing Warminster Town Council is helping inspire the potential tennis stars of the future.

Two groups from Sambourne School visited the Lake Pleasure Grounds to use the tennis courts free of charge on Tuesday 1st July and Thursday 3rd July after exploring the nearby area including Smallbrook Meadows Nature Reserve.

It’s part of a wider initiative from Warminster Town Council to inspire the next generation to take pride in their local area as well as getting them to use local facilities.

The town council recently invited local schoolchildren from across Warminster to plant flowers in the park and has also welcomed a group of pupils from Horningsham School to learn all about the Lake Pleasure Grounds on Wednesday 2nd July.

The park currently has four tennis courts and two pickleball courts available to book as well as a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for public play.

The tennis courts and pickleball courts are £40 for a year’s membership, which allows up to 4 hours a week playtime or £6 per one hour session. The MUGA is free to use all the time.
