Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

New ‘Happy to Chat’ bench sign in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds

21 March 2024

A replacement sign has been installed on the popular ‘Happy to Chat’ bench in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds.

The ‘Happy to Chat’ bench has proved a tremendous success since a sign was originally installed on a bench in June 2023, on the left-hand side of the lake. Warminster Engraving has generously donated a new sign after the previous one was vandalised.

The new sign reads: “Sit here if you don’t mind someone stopping to say hello!”

The idea is that anyone who sits on the bench is willing to talk and have a conversation with anyone else who sits down. The concept is a simple and effective way to try and combat potential loneliness and isolation and is widely used across the UK.

Cllr Fraser said:

We are very pleased with the new ‘Happy to Chat’ sign in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds. If you are visiting Warminster soon, sit down and have a nice chat while enjoying our amazing park. We thank Warminster Engraving for donating this second sign.”
