Warminster Town Council will fund further additional activities for young residents with three days of free activities set to feature an 8m climbing wall, archery, axe throwing as well as canoeing this August.
Qualified instructors from Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT) will run the activity days each available for up to 60 residents with a BA12 postcode, aged 6 to 17.
Sessions are now fully booked.
Young people will be able to tackle an 8m climbing wall, archery and axe throwing, with two sessions available from Portway Field on Wednesday 6th August and Thursday 21st August. The sessions will last 1 hour and a half and will be available to book at 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
A canoeing session for up to 60 young people will run in the Lake Pleasure Grounds on Tuesday 12th August. Local participants will be taken out in 2- and 3-seater Canadian canoes. As well as developing paddle skills, there will also be lots of games and fun. The sessions will also last 1 hour and a half – available at 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Residents signed up for the canoeing sessions should bring a complete change of clothing and footwear (and empty your pockets) – just in case.
Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Andrew Cooper said:
We are delighted to offer further fun free sessions for young residents during the summer holidays across the town. Warminster Town Council continues to invest in multiple activities suitable for a range of ages in Warminster.”
Warminster Town Council has an ongoing agreement with Westbury and Warminster Youth Club to provide outreach workers and continues to work with Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police and others to find ways to support the youth of Warminster.
Furthermore, the town council has additional free events that appeal to the local younger population in 2025 including free skatepark events, Ice Cream & Bubbles Festival and Pumpkins in the Park.
