Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Call for volunteer stewards for Imberbus 2024

16 July 2024

Volunteer stewards are needed to help on Imberbus day. A vintage bus service will be running from Warminster to the abandoned village of Imber on Saturday 17th August 2024, with volunteers required to meet and greet people as well as providing information at either Warminster or Imber.

On the day, Routemaster buses, both old and new, will be operating. As with previous years, buses will be running from outside Warminster railway station.

The small, isolated Imber village or ‘the lost village’ located on Salisbury Plain was once home to a few hundred villagers – now little else but the church, a couple of cottages and a vicarage remain. In 1943, residents were forced out of their homes with 41 days’ notice.

Volunteers will be required for two to three hours and will be provided with a free trip to Imber.  If anyone would like further information, please email admin@warminster-tc.gov.uk. Volunteers need to be over 18.
