Food and drink twist for exciting Warminster Autumn Independent Market

It is not long until the Warminster Independent Autumn Market on Sunday 1st September with a food and drink twist and a packed entertainment schedule.

The Warminster Business Network in conjunction with Warminster Town Council are working together to host the popular event from 10am to 4.30pm with the High Street and Market Place once again closed to traffic and a rich variety of stalls across the town centre and in the Civic Centre in Sambourne Road.  

The autumn market will have a food and drink theme giving visitors the opportunity to travel the world with food from around the globe. There will be exciting street food and drink, entertainment including stilt walkers, circus skills, face painters and much more, with events for all the family throughout the day.

Live music will once again return outside St Lawrence Chapel and The Old Bell will be hosting a Sunday Session in the Courtyard from Mike and the Free Spirits performing Rock ‘n’ Roll with ‘60’s and ‘70’s classics from 3pm to 5pm.

There will also be an interesting mix of stalls including Marlowe’s Mini Makers sand art at the Civic Centre as well as a more food including burgers being served outside with the Town Crier opening the exciting joined-up event.

A Warminster Business Network spokesperson said: “The third market of the year looks to offer something a little different while maintaining the heart of the success so far. The town comes alive during the events, and we cannot wait for this one.”

The market aims to promote local businesses and encourage visitors to all areas of the town with many independent shops and cafes open for visitors.

Additional entertainment includes St Lawrence Chapel hosting Chapel tours, and The Athenæum Warminster and The Warminster Action Group providing children’s craft sessions.

People are encouraged to walk to the event if possible due to road closures in place.

As the event is on a Sunday, parking will be available at Wiltshire Council car parks around Warminster for just 70p for the whole day. Public toilets will be available at The Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB.

The High Street and Market Place roads will be closed from 7am until 7pm. Public toilets will be available at The Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB.

The following roads and streets in the town of Warminster are to be closed (save in any case of emergency) to all vehicular traffic as set out below on Sunday 1st September between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00.

A) Market Place; from its junction with East Street to its junction with High Street

B) High Street; from its junction with Market Place to its junction with George Street

C) The Close (Part); from its junction with High Street to its junction with The Avenue

D) North Row; from its junction with High Street to its junction with The Avenue

E) Weymouth Street (Part); from its junction with High Street to its entrance to Morrisons Supermarket. Access will be available to the Lake Pleasure Grounds via Weymouth Street. Access will also be available to Weymouth Street parking and Chinns Car Park via Weymouth Street.
