A pyrotechnic plane display and live music will dazzle Warminster for a very special 100th celebration in July 2024. Details of the event to celebrate 100 years of the Lake Pleasure Grounds were announced at the Town Development Committee meeting on Monday 4th December – with ambitious plans to create a memorable and special occasion – that differs from any other event held at the park.
The event will take place on Friday 26th July 2024, from 4pm till 10pm, 100 years to the day that the Lake Pleasure Grounds were originally opened.
Exciting musical acts taking to the stage will be an Elton John tribute act – Forever Elton, and Beatles Tribute act – The Beatles with an A, in what is set to be an entertaining event for all the family. The day is set to finish with a pyrotechnic plane display – Airborne Pyrotechnics, lighting up the sky (full timings to follow). The pyrotechnic planes should be visible from most of Warminster, for everyone to enjoy.

Other features of the event will be 1920’s themed fairground type games – along the lake side – past the boat house. These will be free to use. The model boat club will also be invited to display illuminated boats on the lake.
There will be food and drink vendors across the park as well as the Pavilion Cafe open to provide refreshments. Boats will also be available to hire on the lake until 6pm and the splashpad will stay open until around 8pm.
Due to the layout of the Lake Pleasure Grounds, members of the public will be invited to spread themselves around the park as there is only so much space round the bandstand.

We are all very excited for this unique event set to be hosted in the Lake Pleasure Grounds to celebrate 100 years of our wonderful park. We are delighted to have booked some great musical acts – with the celebrations set to be another big event that brings the town together.”
The Lake Pleasure Grounds, located off Weymouth Street, Warminster were created after the First World War to help reduce high levels of unemployment. The park was opened on the 26th July, 1924 by the Marquis of Bath. The opening day included sporting competitions, a performance by Warminster Town Band and other entertainment. In the evening the park was illuminated by lights and fireworks. There was also a Wireless concert from 9pm to 11pm with music from Bournemouth, Birmingham, and Cardiff broadcasting stations.
