Warminster Town Council is asking people to avoid driving on part of Smallbrook Road in Warminster during the toad mating season i.e. February and March.
Toads are known to cross Smallbrook Road as they head back to their breeding pond. The town council is asking vehicles to avoid using Smallbrook Road from Smallbrook Lane car park to the junction with Upper Marsh road and Henfords Marsh.
Toad migrate particularly when it is dark and the weather wet and relatively warm, so it is especially important to avoid the road during rainy evenings and nights.
