Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds has been busy this half term after more than one hundred local residents enjoyed free tennis and canoeing sessions after funds were provided by Warminster Town Council.
On Wednesday 29th May and Thursday 30th May instructors from Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT) ran free 1 ½ hour canoeing sessions with plenty of fun on the lake as local participants were taken out in 2- and 3-seater Canadian canoes.
As well as developing paddle skills, there was lots of games with the lessons well received, with plenty of positive feedback.

On Friday 31st May a free tennis camp was hosted by Far Sports, as excited Warminster residents took to the courts to enjoy free tennis coaching from 10am to 2pm.
A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said:
It was brilliant to see so many Warminster residents enjoying free activities in the Lake Pleasure Grounds. The park was full of people using our wonderful facilities.
Canoeing and rowing boats are available to hire, with tickets available from the café during the school holidays and at weekends costing £6 for rowing boats and £4 for canoes for 30 minutes, 11am to 4pm.
The tennis courts in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds can be used all year round and continue to prove very popular since receiving significant investment in 2023.
The tennis courts are £6 per one hour session or £40 for a year’s membership, which allows up to 4 hours a week playtime. For more details visit: www.lta.org.uk/play
Town councillors previously unanimously approved £10,000 for free activities for young people. Warminster Area Board backed the move with a £5,000 grant.
