Warminster Remembrance Service and Parade 12 November 2023: Road closure and event information

The annual Remembrance Service and Parade will be held in Warminster on Sunday 12th November. The public are invited to the service which will be held at the War Memorial, Portway at 3pm. Ex-service and other local organisations will also attend.

The parade will assemble in Station Road, Warminster from 2.30pm with the main parade marching off at 2.40pm along Station Road, Market Place, High Street and The Close before reaching the War Memorial.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) bikers’ contingent are set to drive the same route in advance of the march. The RBL bikers will gather in Lidl’s car park. Station Road will be closed to traffic from 2.15pm until the parade has cleared.

The service will take place at the memorial starting at 3pm and those who have paraded will take their places alongside those who have gathered to take part.

Road disruption will be kept to a minimum and the parade will be managed on a rolling road closure basis although some roads will remain closed for the duration of the service.

The route of the parade from the station, through the town centre will be closed from 2pm to 3.30pm. The area around the War Memorial, e.g., Portway and The Close will be closed between 2pm and 4.45pm so avoid travelling through the town during these times if possible. 

Orders of service are available in advance from the Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB, the Warminster Community Hub, Central Car Park, Station Road, Warminster, BA12 9TB and Warminster Library, Three Horseshoes Walk, Warminster, BA12 9BT. Alternatively, they can be downloaded from the Warminster Town Council website, and they will also be available on the day.

For those unable to attend the service in person, the service will be broadcast live by Warminster Community Radio 105.5 FM, or you can listen on www.wcrfm.org.uk or via the Tune-In and Radio Garden apps.

A collection will be taken on behalf of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Full list of road closures

The following roads will be closed, or partially closed so avoid travelling through the town during these times if possible. A and B – Sunday 12th November 2023, 2pm to 3.30pm. C to G – Sunday 12th November 2023, 2pm to 4.45pm.

The following roads will be temporarily closed due to the Remembrance Parade, alternative routes via Imber Road and Copheap Lane:

  1. B3414 East Street (Part) from its junction with Imber Road to its junction with Market Place
  2. B3414 Market Place from its junction with East Street to its junction with High Street
  3. B3414 High Street from its junction with High Street to junction George Street/Portway
  4. B3414 George Street from its junction with High Street to junction with Silver Street
  5. C364 Station Road to junction with East Street
  6. C360 The Close from junction with High Street to junction Portway
  7. C360 Portway from its junction with Copheap Lane to junction with High Street/George Street
