Young people in Warminster can once again take part in free activities in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds this May Half Term.

Warminster Town Council has committed further funding for free canoeing sessions after hundreds of young people enjoyed exploring the lake last year.

Furthermore, the town council will also provide funding for additional free activities – with a climbing wall, archery and axe throwing all also on offer.

Canoeing sessions for up to 60 young people will be available to book on Tuesday 27th May, run by qualified instructors from Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT).

Local participants will be taken out in 2- and 3-seater Canadian canoes. As well as developing paddle skills, there will also be lots of games and fun.

They will be available for residents aged 6 to 17, and they must have a BA12 postcode. The sessions will last 1 hour and a half with available at 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

Residents signed up for the sessions should bring a complete change of clothing and footwear (and empty your pockets) – just in case.

Additional exciting free activities will be available to book for up to 60 young people on Thursday 29th May with residents aged 6 to 17 able to tackle a climbing wall, archery and axe throwing. The sessions will also last 1 and a 1/2 hours and will be available to book at 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

A link to sign up for both sessions will go live on Monday 12th May at 6pm.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “We are delighted to offer more free canoeing sessions after brilliant success last year – as well as new exciting activities.

“We want residents to enjoy the Lake Pleasure Grounds and will continue to invest and provide multiple free activities suitable for a range of ages in Warminster.”

The town council continue to work with Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police to look for ways to support the youth of Warminster.
