Yellow Fish markers have been installed in 30 locations across Warminster to raise awareness of where street drains lead to.
The Yellow Fish scheme which has the slogan ‘only rain down the drain’ is used to encourage people to protect their local environment and prevent pollution as anything entering a drain marked with a yellow fish may go direct to the nearest stream or river causing pollution and impacting wildlife.
30 drains across Warminster have this drain marker, with the project funded by Wessex Water.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson explained: “By marking surface water and storm drains with a yellow fish symbol, the town council is highlighting that anything poured into these drains flows straight into natural watercourses, whether that’s a stream, river, lake, canal, or coastal bathing waters, so any pollutants can quickly harm or destroy wildlife.”
