Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Further free tennis sessions served up at the Lake Pleasure Grounds

7 August 2024

More free tennis sessions are now available for young people in Warminster to sign up to, with dates released by FAR sports on Wednesday 21st August and Wednesday 28th August.

Warminster Town Council is providing the funding for the free sessions, hosted in the Lake Pleasure Grounds for residents aged 4 to 8 from 10am to 12pm and then for residents aged 9 to 14 from 1pm to 3pm.

The sessions are run by FAR Sports, who are LTA licensed coaches, DBS checked, and First Aid trained. To register your interest place email info@farsports.co.uk, who will then confirm your place. Spaces are obtained on a first come first serve basis, and FAR sports will try and distribute places evenly across the Summer.

If allocated a place on one of the tennis sessions, participants should bring drinks and snacks on the day. Rackets can be provided.

Cllr Stacie Allensby, Mayor of Warminster said:

It is brilliant the number of free events available for young children this summer with further free tennis sessions announced this August. As well as the free tennis, we have also had very popular free canoeing on the lake as well as the ongoing free Longleat Safari letter trail. It’s amazing to see the Lake Pleasure Grounds so busy with so many people enjoying the facilities.”

There are further plans for free tennis sessions during the weekends in September and October, as well as some after school classes whilst it is still light.

The tennis courts in Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds can be used all year round and continue to prove very popular since receiving significant investment in 2023.

In total there are five tennis courts and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for public play. The MUGA is free to use all the time, and the tennis courts are £6 per one hour session or £40 for a year’s membership, which allows up to 4 hours a week playtime. For more details visit: www.lta.org.uk/play

Warminster Town Council has a tennis coach, Rory Smith, who can be contacted via info@farsports.co.uk.
