Following plenty of enjoyment – Warminster Town Council has committed to further free canoeing sessions for young people in the community.

Multiple Warminster residents enjoyed hours of free canoeing on Thursday 4th April and Monday 8th April after sessions quickly filled up.

Now extra canoeing lessons have been added on Wednesday 29th May 2024 – and on Thursday 30th May. The sessions are available for residents aged 6 to 17, and they must have a BA12 postcode.

Qualified instructors from Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT) will once again be running the free 1 ½ hour sessions with local participants taken out in 2- and 3-seater Canadian canoes. WOLT will also manage the bookings.

As well as developing paddle skills, there will also be lots of games and fun. Sessions will run, three times a day, for up to 20 young people each time. Warminster residents can sign up at either 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

The Town Mayor, Cllr Stacie Allensby said:

We are delighted to be able to offer further free canoeing sessions and encourage young people to sign up for these additional sessions. It is a great opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while enjoying the Lake Pleasure Grounds.

This represents further free activities to be offered from Warminster Town Council as we invest in multiple activities that will cover a range of ages in Warminster.”
