Warminster solicitor celebrates 50 year milestone at Civic Centre

A Warminster based solicitor, Peter Taylor has been presented with a commemorative certificate after celebrating more than 50 years on the Solicitors Roll.

The certificate and covering letter from the President of the Law Society were given to Peter, 75, on 1st May 2026. The celebration of this achievement was organised by Peter’s family and work colleagues at Warminster Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB)

The presentation was made by Warminster Town Clerk, Tom Dommett who congratulated Peter on this huge milestone and noted he is still serving the people of Warminster. Peter gave a short speech outlining his remarkable career.

Peter qualified as a solicitor in June 1976 after graduating from Exeter University with a Law degree in 1972. After qualification, he joined Barlow Lyde and Gilbert in London, where he worked until 1978, before spending 3 years working for Hastings & Co., a firm of solicitors in Hong Kong. He has worked in many places including Devon and Hampshire. 

Peter began practising from his offices based in the Warminster area in 2019 and in 2026 set up his new practice Collins Taylor Solicitors, where he continues to work in association with his former practice Taylor Fordyce solicitors based in Winchester.

Peter is fluent in Spanish, having been born and brought up in Central America and maintains close connections with a number of Latin American groups within the UK.

He is an Hon. Vice Chairman of the Society of British and Argentine Lawyers (SOBAL) and also the Founder of ‘Readings with the Bard’ a Shakespeare appreciation group based in the Wylye Valley.

Peter has a keen interest in promoting local businesses and creating closer links with South America and has been invited to address the Town Council’s Town Development Committee in June.
