A new weekly parkrun event has started near Warminster, made possible due to funding from Warminster Town Council.
Thoulstone parkrun (Thoulstone Park, BA13 4AQ) is a new weekly 5k community event held every Saturday morning at 9am. Everyone is welcome to come along to walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.
Although for participants the event is free, set up costs to start the event were required including the purchase of essential equipment, portable defibrillator and course signage. Town councillors previously awarded a grant of £2,800, with funding from General Reserves. Costs for setting up the event totalled £4,800 with £2,000 already secured. The Rotary Club of Westbury also provided funding to set up the event.

Cllr Steve Jeffries said:
I am delighted to be involved in the setting up of this parkrun and I hope the people of Warminster will support and enjoy the event every Saturday. The ethos of parkrun is to allow anyone to come along and run, jog, or walk, in a fully inclusive environment and the health benefits in terms of physical and mental wellbeing are proven.
I was so pleased when the council supported the grant request which has allowed us to get the event up and running and for the parkrun team to put on this brilliant event for all to enjoy.”
The first parkrun event at Thoulstone was held on Saturday 8th February. Anyone wishing to take part in future parkruns should register before and bring a scannable copy of your barcode.
