Back for its 10th year, entrance to Warminster Civic Centre’s Christmas Market is free!
This year the Mayor’s Charity Raffle star prize is an Axon Pro-S 250W folding e-bike. Worth over £1000, you could be cycling home on this amazing electric bike. With loads of other prizes you could be going home with a hamper or a voucher supplied by or for local shops and businesses. These and many other great prizes are just £1.00 a ticket! All proceeds go to the Mayor’s chosen charities: Wessex MS Therapy Centre and Alzheimer’s Support.
You can give Santa a run for his money at the Christmas Market this year with over 30 stalls for every age, interest and budget, including: handmade crochet, glass and resin items as well as handmade mohair teddy bears; craft and baking sets; handmade and previously owned jewellery; charity stalls; cards; soft furnishings and loads of other great gifts. There’s sure to be something for everyone!
Why not treat yourself, too? ‘Posh Crepes’, a local, family-run business from Corsley with a quirky, vintage Citroen HY van, will be serving up sweet and savoury crepes from 10am outside the Civic Centre. Fillings include classics like lemon and sugar, cheese & ham and chocolate & banana, as well as festive favourites like cinnamon sugar, festive mince pie flavour and chicken & cranberry, starting at just £4.00 per crepe. Vegan and gluten free crepes will also be available, just ask on the day.
As well as crepes, if you’re feeling a bit peckish or would like a festive hot drink during your wander around the market, there will be plenty of hot drinks and festive snacks available at the Coffee Bar inside, including deluxe hot chocolate complete with cream and marshmallows, warm mulled wine, gingerbread, stollen and mince pies.
Let’s not forget the main man: there will be a Santa’s Grotto for just £3.00 per child, where each child will be able to meet and chat to Santa about their wishes for the festive season and receive a present from Santa, too. Parents and guardians will need to speak to Santa’s Elf Helper on the day to book their slot and payment will be cash only for Santa’s Grotto.
To top off the festive feeling, there will be a live music programme throughout the day at the entrance to the Civic Centre. This programme includes local bands and choirs: Rock Choir, Warminster Community Choir, Sambourne School Choir, Sloejam and Rockport Blues.
The market will be officially opened by The Mayor of Warminster, Councillor Chris Robbins, at 10am. Warminster Community Radio will be set up in the Civic Centre broadcasting live and will be having a chat with the Right Hon Dr Andrew Murrison MP.
Don’t forget to get your face painted for just £3.00 at the face painting stall, where Green Heart Parties will be using glow in the dark face paints, perfect for the Christmas Light Switch On & Parade later in the evening!
