Calling all community members…
Warminster Town Council are planning the,
Great British Spring Clean on Saturday 26th March, beginning at 10:30am from the Civic Centre in Sambourne Road
Previous litter picks, such as Clean for the Queen and multiple Community Litter Picks, have always been so successful in bringing the town together for the greater good of the town’s folk by the selfless act of giving up an hour or so of time. Please come and get involved in this national and community event.
If you would like to volunteer to take part in the Great British Spring Clean, please call or email the Town Council at the Civic Centre using the details below. Letting us know that you are willing to join in. admin@warminster-tc.gov.uk
Councillor Keeble, the Community’s Litter Champion said,
“Over 2 million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK every day and the cost to UK taxpayers. To clean this up is over £1billion per year, that’s equates to more than £40 per household. Litter also attracts anti-social behaviour and crime, causes pollution and is harmful to wildlife as they ingest the toxins or become entangled and suffer a slow and painful death.
I therefore always recognise the great feeling of pride, seeing the community coming together to care for our town. There is a wider meaning behind the litter picks that we do, caring not only for the humans of the town but the abundance of wildlife that we share the town with. To celebrate the overwhelming sense of achievement from everyone involved in the litter pick, I always enjoy meeting together afterwards for a much needed cup of tea and cake. I look forward to seeing all of you can spare an hour or so on the 26th March.”
