Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Road closures

This page will be a summary of all current and planned upcoming road closures in the local area.

Weymouth Street Warminster – Wessex Water

Wessex Water will be carrying out essential upgrades to the sewer network within the public car park on Weymouth Street, Warminster, later this summer as part of a programme to reduce storm overflow operation and improve protection of the environment.

An investment of more than £1.8 million, this project will see an additional 407,000 litres of storage built underground within the existing car park at the northern end of Weymouth Street to help improve the quality of water in the Were River running through the town.

Subject to permission for the installation of a ventilation column at the corner of the car park as part of the overall scheme being granted by Wiltshire Council, construction will start in August 2024 and is expected to take up to seven months, finishing by March 2025.

The car park on Weymouth Street will be unavailable while the tank is installed and we will be accessing the construction site via Weymouth Street.

To ensure the safety of both construction workers and local customers, a northbound single lane closure for through traffic will be in operation on Weymouth Street, at Morrison’s Petrol Station roundabout during the course of the project. Access down Weymouth Street for southbound through traffic from the B3414 will be maintained.

Access to Morrison’s supermarket via Morrison’s Petrol Station roundabout will be maintained from the south and a diversion for the northbound Weymouth Street closure will be in place, using Weymouth Street, Sambourne Road, George Street and the B3414.
