Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Warminster Christmas Market and Christmas Lights a great success

21 December 2021

Warminster Town Council is delighted with the hugely positive response to the Christmas Market held at the Civic Centre on 27th November. Stall holders reported brisk business and a festive cheer.

Councillor Steve Jeffries. Mayor of Warminster who opened the Christmas Market said: “The last 2 years have been very challenging for us all, and it was most welcome to see this event return to the Civic Centre. I hope that as we return to a more familiar world than the one, we have just lived through, this Christmas, families, relatives, and friends, can all come together and celebrate the festive period.”

“I would like to thank the stall holders who supported the event and brought such a variety of products and skills to the fair, it was great to meet them all and chat about the products they make and were selling. I would also like to thank the Civic Centre Team for all their hard work in pulling the logistics together and making the event so successful.”

“Most of all, I would like to thank the people of Warminster who visited the Christmas Fair on Saturday and supported local business, and from the feedback I have received, really enjoyed the fair, and look forwards to next year’s event. I would like to especially thank all of those who purchased raffle tickets in support of the mayor’s charities, Wessex MS Centre, and Cure DM, and I am really pleased to announce the raffle raised £572.00 for both very worthy causes.”

In the evening, the Mayor was in Warminster High Street to turn on the Christmas lights. Speaking after the event, Councillor Steve Jeffries said: “Despite the cold, windy weather, it was wonderful to see the people of Warminster out in force again to witness the lights switch on. As Mayor, it was a real honour to be asked to switch on the lights this year in the town but also to meet with Father Christmas. I would like to say a massive thank you to the Warminster Brass Band whose music serenaded the assembled congregation, and to those who braved the cold and came out to support the event. This marks the true start of Christmas for me, and my family and I would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful new year.”
