Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Sad news – death of two former Mayors

3 November 2021

It is with great sadness that Warminster Town Council has heard the news that retired Councillors and former Mayors, Peter Coventry and Stephen Pearson had both passed away

Peter passed away on 18th October 2021, leaving behind a wife and six children. Peter became Mayor in May 1997 and worked tirelessly during his term of office, continuing the sterling work done by his predecessor, his wife Ann Coventry, who had also been Mayor for Warminster.

Stephen started his Mayoral year in May 1999, he was remembered by his fellow councillors as a good Mayor. Stephen was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and owned a business within the town. He was also a Chartered Electrical Engineer and after leaving the council applied his knowledge and skills to help developing African nations generate heat and power for their domestic needs by inventing sun reflectors and generators, for use in remote communities.

The current Mayor of Warminster, Councillor Steve Jeffries said:

Both men will be sadly missed by all members of the Town Council and by the community in Warminster.  Councillors send their condolences to both families.
