Warminster Town Council: Delivering a brighter, greener future for all

Warminster Neighbourhood Plan Review – August Update

17 August 2022

The review of the Warminster Neighbourhood Plan continues to progress. In June and July, Warminster Town Council applied for a government grant to support the review of the town’s Neighbourhood Plan. The application was successful and the money is now being used to pay for crucial work.

At the end of July, the Council kick-started evidence gathering with an interactive volunteer launch workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Place Studio who are consultants appointed to support the Town Council with the review of the Neighbourhood Plan.  During the event, work was undertaken on reviewing and recording detail on topics such as community facilities, green spaces, biodiversity assets, town centre change and sustainable building techniques.

Topic Groups have been appointed to cover four different aspects of the review. The outcomes from the workshop will form the basis of work to be progressed by the Topic Groups over the next few months. The topic groups will be continuing to update evidence and gather new information. This data will be used to refresh local planning policies and where appropriate to draft new ones.

A Steering Group is being appointed to oversee the work of the Topic Groups and work will be guided by the feedback from the launch consultation which was carried out in February and March this year.

The use of consultants who are experts in reviewing Neighbourhood Plans will ensure the maximum chance of local aspirations becoming local planning policies.
